Het verschil zit idd in het materiaal waar de kit van gemaakt is. De 57i is van kunststof en de typhoon van aluminium. Ze geven beide een andere geluid alleen geeft de typhoon net even een iets mooier geluid, dit omdat hij van aluminium is. De typhoon geeft ook net even iets meer vermogens winst, dus dit zijn de twee redenen dat deze ook duurder is.
Het maakt voor de motor niet uit dat er nu een openlucht filter op zit want de computer regelt hier voor de aanpassing.
Het is ook waar dat er een kleine aanpassing is geweest bij de Mini, deze aanpassing is 9/2005 geweest en hier past idd de oudere 57i kit niet op en komt idd tegen de motorkap. We hebben hier dus een nieuwe kit voor gemaakt welke op beide modellen past. ook hebben we de typhoon kit aangepast zodat hij op beide modellen zal passen. Het kan natuurlijk altijd zijn dat er importeurs/dealers zijn die nog een oude kit op voorraad hebben/hadden liggen en die toen naar de klant hebben laten gaan.
Je moet er dus goed opletten dat als je iets besteld dat je de 57-0331-1 krijgt en niet de 57-0331. als je de typhoon kit krijgt moet je even kijken of het filter wat er in zit een chromen deksel heeft en niet een top met filter materiaal want dan is dat ook de oude.

Hi,
i would like to know what the main difference is, between the 57i and typhoon for the mini cooper.
as i see on the pictures, the 57i is with a plastic connection, and the typhoon with aluminium connection. is this the only difference ?
when i compare the prices, there's a difference from approx. 80 euro. i guess this is for a reason.
also, one of the reasons for purchasing one of these filters, is because i would like to increase my enginesound, is there a difference between them in db ?
what about the quote that an openair filter breaths hotter air than the normal closed box ?
does an openair filter influence the adjustment of the engine ?
also, i hear about a difference in fitting the filter ? is there an adjustment made, for the 2005 models ?
when i would order one, should i make extra sure that i get the correct one ?
i heared somebody say, that he bought the 57i and it didn't fit in his cooper, the hood didn't close anymore.
