WRC MINI
Official Release: Dani produced another highlight to round off the historic first day of the MINI brand’s return to the world rally stage. As the first driver in the MINI WRC Team, he consistently produced strong performances to move into the leading group. “I am very happy,” said Dani. “The car is making a very good impression. We hardly had to make any changes.”
Following the fifth stage of the day, Dani and co-driver Carlos del Barrio found themselves in sixth place overall. Friday’s fine performances have put the duo in an excellent position ahead of day two in Sardinia and the pair can now look forward to more highlights over stages nine to fourteen.
Kris and co-driver Paul Nagle are keen to rejoin the action on Saturday after two technical problems at the start of the third stage spoilt a strong opening. At the end of the second special stage, Kris and Paul were flying in fourth place overall.
MINI John Cooper Works WRC number 52 will be analysed in the Service Park later today. However, everyone in the MINI WRC Team is confident that Kris and Paul will be back in business on Saturday. First place is currently occupied by Sébastien Loeb. The reigning world champion shot from eighth to second place overall on the second special stage and moved into the lead after stage four.
The MINI Motorsport web team would like to congratulate the entire MINI WRC Team and will be keeping its fingers crossed for another good performance on Saturday.
